Chapter 162 High Maintenance
Somehow, it suddenly occured to Edward that Justin told him not to go to her and the appointment on the 19th was very important to her.
Even Justin knew that Aiden's birthday was very important, Jane must have told him something. Such as, she attached great an importance to Aiden.
Seeing them passed, Edward retracted his gaze and drove to the Moonshadow. In the private room, Vincent had already arrived, and was talking with Edward about the business in Z City. Then someone knocked at the door and came in. It was the subordinate of Edward, who handed him a cowhide portfolio and said, "We've found it."
Edward opened the bag and looked at it. "What are you checking?" Vincent from the opposite side asked.
At first, Edward didn't say anything and he just lookes it up so quickly. When he got to the end, he laughed.
Vincent was so curious, and asked again, "What are you looking at?"
Edward threw the portfolio on the table. Vincent immediately picked it up and looked at it. After a while, he raised his head and asked, "Didn't you say you'd leave it alone?"
Edward lit a cigarette and said, "I must know who passed the blame to me."
Vincentn laughed, "Come on, you are just being angry about the one who did that to Jane."
That was right, Edward asked someone to investigate the drug on the night of the 19th, and now the aim has been determined. He took a breath and lifted his eyelids. "It's relly getting in my nerves. The way she looked at me just liked she was looking at a thief."
Vincent laughed even harder. "It can't be helped. You've got a bad reputation."
Though he got a bad reputation, he had done nothing to her. Edward almost blurted out.
"Bobby Smith...a person on Aiden Cater's side?"
Vincent pointed at the information on the portfolio, and said meaningfully.
Edward sneered, "She even can't tell right from wrong."
"Huh?" Vincent looked up at him, wondering where these words came from.
Edward said frankly, "Jane trusts Aiden Cater very much, and took the blame on me as soon as something happened."
Being a onlooker, Vincent said, "How dare she!"
Edward was annoyed. "Though she doesn't speak it out, it doesn't mean she doesn't want to do it."
Vincent shook his head and said, "The 'grievance' of this kind hurts the most. Though being angry, one dare not to say it. I'm really sorry about that."
Edward took a glance at Vincent and was so cheesed. "Maybe she also has doubted you in her mind." he said.
Vincent said casually, "Since we've all been notorious, including Ken Garcia. And finally, it turned out he was on Aiden Cater's side. Tsk tsk."
Anyone who encountered this could not help sighing. Just like when a sheep fell into a pack of wolves and died, who would have known that it was bitten by a dog? Even the dog itself didn't believe that.
Edward said nothing, and the image of Jane standing in front of Aiden Cater appeared in his mind. Why did she trust him so much? Because he was famous or handsome?
Thinking about the blame he took, he thought it so unfair.
Vincent knew that Edward was holding his anger, and even after a week, he still couldn't get over this.
"Now here is the evidence. Just go and tell her, and ask her to apologize to you obediently until you are satisfied."
Vincent deliberately blurted out the word 'obediently'. Hearing this, one couldn't help but thinking about the way she would apologize.
Edward hated Vincent for making dirty jokes, especially after he really had got quite close with Jane. It would make him... could't help but thinking other things he preferred to do.
Vincent glared at Vincent coldly. "Why do I have to tell her?" Edward said.
Vincent asked, "Then what do you want to do?"
Edward dropped his eyes, which were fulled of sterness, and didn't say it directly. Vincent was not worried about no fun scene to watch. No matter who the person was and no matter he got his back from Aiden Cater or Ken Garcia, anyone who dared to touch the people around Edward and passed the blame to him would have the same end.
Then when the two was chatting about other business affairs, Justin called Edward suddenly.
"Hello."
"Uncle Edward, I'm going out tonight. Just want to let you know."
"Where?"
"Bad Teacherr is going to celebrate her birthday today. And she invited me to dinner."
Edward suddenly got so irritated, though he let it out quickly, he was still annoyed that Jane would rather invite Justin for her birthday than invite him.
"Where is it?"
"Maple Restaurant."
"OK."
When the phone hung up, Vincent asked, "Is there something wrong with Justin?"
"Nothing."
Vincent continued to talk about other things, while Edward just listened casually, thinking that since Jane had made an appointment with Justin at night, she wouldn't have dinner with Aiden Cater. Or will Aiden Cater also go to the dinner? If Aiden Cater go there, will Ken Garcia go with him? If Ken Garcia also goes there, he will never let Justin go, for fear that he would took bad luck back.
Vincent asked, "Did you listen to me?"
Edward didn't bat an eyelid. "The land in Y City is not in a hurry."
"Why?"
"I heard that the Jones family also wanted it."
Vincent changed his expression slightly. The Jones family was a native of Z City, and they were very powerful in the local area. If they wanted to cross the border to grab things in other people's place, they must take into account greater influence.
For more than an hour after that, the two only talked about business. Later, Vincent's mobile phone rang, and someone called him to have dinner together.
Vincent asked Edward, "What do you want to eat for dinner?"
"Whatever."
"Western food?"
"No."
"Japanese food?"
"I get no appetite."
"Then what do you want to eat?"
"It's up to you."
The person on the other end of the phone was still waiting for Edward and Vincent to fix the restaurant. Vincent was about to be driven crazy by Edward. "Is it okay for you to eat local food?" he said casually.
Edward finally responded. Well, seriously speaking, he just made a "Hum" sound which finally made Vincent relieved. "Where to eat?" he deliberately asked again.
"It's up to you."
Edward sit there. Cool as him, he was too stubborn and fussy. Driven crazy, Vincent was so angry and used speaker phone directly, "You just talk to him. I'll go out to get a breath of fresh air." he said.
The person on the phone pampered him and asked, "Edward, do you want to eat some local food. How about Yard restaurant?"
Edward slowly said, "It's too far."
"I know a new one near the Moonshadow. Shall we go there?" the person on the phone added.
Edward flicked the cigarette ashes. "I'm afraid of formaldehyde."
Several people on the other end of the line offered advice in turn. Finally one person said, "What about the Maple Restaurant?"
"I've been there for many times..." someone next to him said.
Edward said, "I want to eat the stuffed eggplant there."
Hearing this, the people on the phone immediately said, "Okay, I'll order it now. Edward, what else do you want to eat?"
Edward said, "Take an order first, and then talk about it when we get there."
Hanging up the phone, Vincent slumped on the back of the chair and stared at Edward. After looking at him for a long time, he couldn't help saying, " You should be a woman."
Edward raised his sharp eyes.
Vincent said, "You are so troublesome. If you want to go to Maple Restaurant, just speak it out. Are you going to drive us crazy?"
"How am I supposed to know where I want to eat before they mentioned it." said Edward.
Vincent complained, "You'd better be single. Or it's hard to say who will suffer a lot. You are so fussy."
