Chapter 241 Why Are You So Clingy When You're Sick
The latest financial news was playing on the TV in the living room.
Ebony was hugging a pillow, sitting cross-legged on the sofa and holding an after-dinner apple in her hand.
Where she was sitting now was where Lloyd usually sat reading.
Of course, she knew that Lloyd was just pretending to be reading and was in fact watching her, but she never exposed it.
There were no knocks or doorbells outside the door.
Taking a bite of the apple, Ebony watched the news attentively, recording the latest information with her mobile phone from time to time.
After a while, the servant cut a kiwi and came over.
Ebony thanked her and then brought the plate over to eat.
The servant did not leave. She stood there a little awkwardly, and said hesitantly, "Miss Gibson, it seems that the temperature will drop tonight."
Ebony picked up a piece of kiwi using a fruit fork, put it into her mouth, and said, " He has money with him and there are hotels nearby."
Ebony waved her hand, "Auntie, he's so smart. Don't worry, he won't be at a disadvantage. I've been outsmarted by him for many times. I will definitely not be soft-hearted this time! I must teach him a lesson!"
The servant finally sighed and said, "Well then, do you want your supper?"
Ebony said quickly, "Yes. I have to stay up all night to read the documents. I need food so much!"
The servant said smilingly, "Okay, I'll go and make it."
After saying that, the servant went to the kitchen.
Two hours later, the servant went to bed. She kept the nutritious gruel and chicken rolls warm in the kitchen. Ebony could have them in the kitchen anytime she got hungry.
In the living room, the only sound apart from that of the financial news on the TV was that of the typing on the keyboard.
After a long while, Ebony was a little tired. She stopped typing and stretched. She looked up and saw that it was eleven o'clock on the clock on the TV wall.
It was already eleven o'clock.
Ebony looked at the floor-to-ceiling window next to the wall. After thinking for a while, she stood up from the carpet and slipped to the floor-to-ceiling window. She opened the curtain a little and peeped outside.
From where she stood, she could have a little view outside the gate.
But she could not see Lloyd even after watching for a long time. Lloyd's car was gone too.
Was he really gone?
With a pouted mouth, Ebony turned around. She sat back on the carpet and worked on her documents.
Ebony continued to work until two o'clock in the morning. Her tiredness and empty stomach finally made her get up to go to the kitchen for food.
The chicken rolls and nutritious gruel were in the food warmer.
Ebony opened the food warmer and groped inside.
Hmm?
No?
She groped again.
It really wasn't there.
Frowning, Ebony tilted her head and looked around in the food warmer, but there was really nothing inside.
She scratched her head and mumbled confusedly, "Am I being stupid? Have I eaten it?"
"What are you looking for?"
Suddenly, a gentle male voice sounded behind her.
Ebony was stunned. She turned around abruptly and saw that Lloyd was wearing white casual clothes, standing at the door with an empty bowl in his hand and looking at her.
Ebony was dumbfounded, "How did you get in here?"
The man glanced at her and passed next to her.
He put the empty bowl of nutritious gruel into the sink, washed his hands, wiped his hands with a towel, and said, "I drove the car outside the garage, stepped on the roof of the car, climbed up the garage, moved along the outer wall, climbed up the window of the corridor on the third floor, and came in through the window."
Ebony was speechless.
My plan failed, thought Ebony, I forgot that he was a soldier, and that he could move easily on eaves and walls!
At this moment, Lloyd opened the refrigerator, took out a pack of noodles, looked at Ebony and asked, "Are you hungry?"
Ebony pursed her lips and said nothing. She just stared at him.
Lloyd said, "I know a little bit about how to cook noodles."
Fifteen minutes later, Ebony looked at the noodles in front of her in astonishment.
It turned out that Lloyd was not being modest by saying "a little bit". He only knew a little bit indeed.
The only thing he knew was to put the noodles in boiling hot water and scoop them up after a while.
Ebony looked at the dark noodles in front of her and tentatively tasted some.
It could be said that she had never tasted such terrible noodles!
The noodles were so soft that they all stuck together. The seasonings were not good. It was sour and salty, and there was a lot of soy sauce that the soup was as dark as ink.
After Ebony took a bite, she took a deep breath, stared at the man across the table and asked, "Are you taking revenge on me?"
The man said nothing. He just propped his jaw and looked at her with his head tilted. His dark eyes were weary and slightly closed.
Ebony was shocked. She stood up, leaned forward and touched Lloyd's forehead with her palm.
Lloyd did not move. He just looked at her. He looked a little lethargic.
It was a little bit hot.
Ebony frowned, "You caught a cold just like that? Are you made of glass?"
While saying that, Ebony got up, walked around the dining table and stopped in front of Lloyd. She held his face in both her hands and made him looked up at her.
Lloyd cooperated and did so, keeping his eyes on her.
Ebony held one of Lloyd's cheeks, lifted his eyelids with the other hand, checked the whites of his eyes, and said, "It's just a little bit hot. Nothing else is wrong. Take two cold medicines and go to bed earlier. You'll be fine in the morning."
With that, she turned around to get the medicine kit.
Unexpectedly, her wrist was pulled as soon as she moved.
The man suddenly pulled her back.
Ebony only felt that her body turned around, and the next moment, her waist was hugged.
She was standing while Lloyd was sitting. Lloyd buried his cold and sick-looking face in her lower abdomen. His forehead pressed against the fabric of her white casual clothes, and he said lazily, "I'm so sleepy."
Ebony's hands were suspended mid-air and she looked down at the man silently.
Lloyd seemed to feel better after hugging her, so he closed his eyes as if he was going to fall asleep in this way.
Ebony waited for a while. Seeing that he really wasn't letting go, she raised one of her eyebrows, and then...
She grabbed Lloyd's ear!
Lloyd was speechless.
The feigning man was forced to let go of the girl's waist and to sit up straight again.
Ebony grabbed Lloyd with one hand and put the other hand on her waist. She scolded, "You've started again, haven't you? Are you still sleepy?"
Lloyd looked at her with a somewhat innocent expression and said nothing.
Ebony let go of Lloyd's ear and said loudly, "Go get the medicine yourself. The cold medicine which is in the usual medicine box. Take two pills and go to bed!"
After she finished her sentence, she picked up the noodles across the dining table and walked over to the coffee table. She sat on the carpet and ate the noodles while reading the documents.
Lloyd sat in the dining room for a while. Seeing that Ebony was indeed ignoring him, he could only sigh. Then, he stood up silently on his knees and went to look for medicine in the drawers.
After he had found the medicine, he took the medicine box over to the living room, sat behind Ebony, and asked, "This one?"
Ebony glanced at it and said, "Yeah."
Lloyd opened the medicine box and said, "I don't want to take it."
Ebony frowned and turned to stare at him. She warned, "Lloyd, I haven't calmed down yet. You'd better stop it!"
Lloyd looked down at the girl in front of him. He took a tissue, wiped the oil stains from the noodles on the corner of her mouth, and asked, "Then how would you stop being angry?"
Ebony took the tissue over, wiped her mouth by herself, and said, "Take the medicine and go to bed. Don't disturb me. What's the matter with you? Why are you so clingy when you're sick?"
