Alpha announced a pack meeting for all the members at the end of the day. By the time I went to the training grounds, I saw everyone had already lined up according to the ranks. So I quickly ran to the group of omegas and stood next to a little girl I'd never seen before. Just as I went there, alpha clapped his hands to grab all our attention.
"This is going to be a very short meeting, everyone. I have a few announcements to make." alpha Jackson said aloud. No one spoke, letting him continue.
"We have spotted some rouges the past few days at our borders, so I will put a curfew for everyone. Don't go to the woods during the nighttime till I announce. The woods will be allowed only between the training periods, so whoever wants a release for their wolves can go there but only to a certain distance."
"Omegas will be prohibited from going there without a stronger one accompanying them at any time. And the second announcement is, we have three new members in our pack," he said.
Murmurs erupted among the crowd. I looked around to see the new ones, but I didn't know who they were.
"We have two betas from the 'Crescent Moon Pack', it was attacked last week, and we got them as survivors as well as an omega," he said the last words in distaste.
"Treat them like your own and make them feel like home. Help them to get in with the rules, and senior omegas take care of the younger and let her know her limits," he said, pointing at the little girl who was standing next to me.
I looked at the little one to see her hugging her plushie with wide eyes. She looked scared with all the unfamiliar faces looking at her. And suddenly, I felt terrible for her, who was now stuck in the worst pack for omegas.
Deep down, I wished the two betas from the same pack would treat her well, at least.
"Meeting dismissed." alpha Jackson said.
Some greeted him and left the place as some started chattering in the area. I saw two unfamiliar faces among the betas looking uncomfortable in the new environment.
I looked down at the little girl who was fiddling with herself. I wanted to talk with her, but I didn't know what to do. Keeping that aside I knelt in front of her. She looked at me with her beady eyes that held so much fear. I could almost see the amount of blood she saw when the rouges attacked her previous pack.
I gave her a bright smile and waved my hand in front of her. She didn't reply but stared.
"Hello, little one." then I heard the voice I disliked the most. It was the head of betas, Jane or Janette. She walked over to us with a fake smile and knelt in front of the kid, pushing me away.
"I am Janette. Call me Jane," she said, giving me a side glance. "We won't meet much 'cause I am a beta, and you are an omega. But I am pretty sure you will meet this little mute twig every day for the rest of your life," she said, twirling the tip of her hair, which was tied back to a high ponytail.
The little omega girl's attention shifted to me. However, Jane had to go when an alpha called her for something. I just rolled my eyes at the way she walked and turned to the little girl.
'She's jobless.' Sparkle commented about Jane, and of course, she was. She had nothing to do but poke her nose at my business.
The small girl stared at me for a second and spoke; "You can't talk?" she asked.
I shook my head.
"Then how can we be friends?" she asked. Oh my, I wished I could just squeeze her cute cheeks. She looked so adorable.
"You don't have to talk to be friends." Fah appeared next to me and draped her arm around my shoulder. "We are best friends already, with one-sided conversations. I am Fah, and this is Everleigh. You can call her Every or Eve; whatever you like," she said, and I nodded.
"I like your name." the small girl said, extending her hand to hold mine.
And those were the times I wished I could talk though I didn't mind most of the time.
"I am Rose because my wolf has red-like fur. Mama put my name," she said.
"It's a cute name for a girl like you. Now we will show you around our packhouse and where you are going to sleep." Fah said, motioning me to drag Rose with me.
"Where are you taking her?" an unfamiliar voice asked. I turned around to see one of the new betas, and both started walking in our direction with suspicious eyes.
"To where we stay," Fah replied.
"She's going to be with us. I am her sister." the same person said. "I am Daisy, by the way." she introduced herself.
"I am Fah, and this is Every." Fah introduced both of us to Daisy. I waved at her. "Uh... Every cannot talk. Leaving that aside. I am afraid it won't happen that way."
"What do you mean?" Daisy asked.
"Actually, this pack has several rules which you might not like. We have the ranks separated, and well... mostly, omegas are separated. So Rose will have to stay with us but don't worry, we will take good care of her." Fah finished her explanation.
"No freaking way I am letting you-" Daisy's words got cut off by none other than Jane.
"You do have an attitude, don't you?" Jane asked with her usual mean voice. She walked to us with her arms folded and gave me a judging look before turning to Daisy. "Listen here, if you can't live here according to the rules, you can go back to your burnt down pack and die there. How does that sound?" Jane asked.
"Hey! That's so rude!" Fah yelled.
"Shut up, and you aren't part of this!" Jane spat. "Plus, I have better things to do than talking with some low creatures like you."
"Are you talking about omegas separately like this?!" Daisy raised her voice.
"No shit, Sherlock."
"Oh my god, how much I hate her," Fah mumbled under her breath as soon as Jane left. Then her attention was back on Daisy and her friend.
"You see. This is the worst pack someone can be. She's the head of betas. I might have to work under her. For now, just follow her. And try to be on her good side because nothing good will come from going against her. Rose will be just fine." Fah said.
I couldn't help but feel sorry for the new ones. They cluelessly followed Jane inside. Daisy only left after peppering a few kisses on Rose's face.
I realised they were unlucky to meet up with our pack. Because it was the worst pack someone could stay in, especially for Omegas.
"Can you carry me?" Rose asked, holding up her hands at me. I nodded and hoisted her up. She was a bit heavy.
"Take her downstairs, okay? I will go talk with Nanny about this whole Jane situation. I have to make sure she won't mistreat the new ones." Fah told me and ran to the other side. I sighed as she went away from my view. She was too caring, and I hoped it would go well.
"Is it boring not being able to talk?" Rose asked. I shook my head, sticking my tongue at her. She giggled and hugged me tightly with her tiny arms.
I made my way from behind the packhouse towards the backdoor so I could take her to the basement without a problem. She looked tired from the long journey, and I wanted to tuck her under some sheets and let her take some rest. We were on our way to the backdoor, but face to face appeared none other than alpha Grey and his beta, Kavin. They were by the side talking about something until they saw me.
Why does Moon Goddess give me so many coincidental meetings with him?! We weren't on good terms even...
