Chapter 20 Ointments For Wounds

|Every|
I wrapped an old bandage around the freshly cut wounds I had on both my hands. When the cloth material touched the open wounds, it stung so badly.
"Don't do that. Wash your hands first. I'll try to get some ointment from upstairs." Fah quickly unwrapped the bandages around my hands and said. She walked out of the room after making sure I won't wrap my wounds again.
"Does it hurt?" Rose asked, sitting in front of me. She looked sleepy even after sleeping for a few hours. I nodded in answer. "How did this happen? You are careless like me! Why did you go touch broken glasses? My sister always tells me not to try new thingies. And you should listen to her as well." Her adorable warnings made me smile even though I was in pain.
Basically, the flawless texture in my hands was long gone. In some places, it was continuously bleeding, while some areas only stung with no blood.
"Got them!" Fah ran back inside with a small bottle and some cotton. She sat where she was before and grabbed my wounded hands. "I only got this. Hope it will help you," she said with a knowing smile. She knew that my wolf couldn't cure wounds soon. Though usually, werewolves could heal faster than human beings, I didn't have that. My speed of healing was slower but still a bit better than humans.
It only took a few minutes and a bucket of tears from crying till the medication started working on the wounds. When it was done, I had both my hands wrapped in some bandages that got bloodstains pretty soon. My face had a small bruise as well, but I didn't want to apply anything to it.
I tried to flex my fingers through the bandages, and luckily the wrapping wasn't done tightly. Rose held both my hands while saying this and that about the wounds she got when she was small. She still thought I accidentally cut myself with glass because I didn't tell her the truth. But I knew most of the omegas who heard my fake story knew it was a lie through experience.

The night's sleep wasn't good either. Whenever my hands made contact with any surface, it stung, and I had to wake up. When sleep didn't accept me, I tossed my blankets away and walked out of the room without making any sounds.
I was annoyed. I was tired. I was sleepy. And I was hurt.
I walked upstairs without any footwear and went outside to the cold night. Then I remembered how alpha specifically told us not to go outside. But it was only to the woods, so I thought it wouldn't hurt me to roam around the backyard till I got more fatigue to fall asleep like a log.
My feet started freezing when they made contact with the cold snow. There were a few benches out, allowing anyone to sit. So I walked over to one and removed the layer of snow on the bench. They softly fell to the ground leaving a slightly wet bench.
Shivering at the feeling of coldness against my skin, I sat on the bench. Though the coldness started freezing me, I couldn't care less. My hands involuntarily came to my chest and sneaked underneath my t-shirt. I let my hands stay there, looking for warmth when I saw someone walking toward me.
I watched with wide eyes, not knowing who it was because of the darkness. Also, because I couldn't identify the person's scent when that person came closer, I realised it was a beta in charge of keeping a guard around the backyard in case of an emergency.
"You shouldn't be outside," he said, creasing his eyebrows. I didn't know the guy's name. Was it Shane? Jake? Or... "Go inside," he said again.
I pursed my lips. If only he knew what shit I was going through.

"What happened to your hands?" he asked, oblivious to the fact I had no way to answer. I just allowed him to look at them as long as he needed. "Didn't you try the healing potion?" he asked.
I shook my head.
I've heard a few times about the healing potion, but I never knew what it was. Mainly it was used for severe wounds or even for small ones. It was used especially when someone gets wounded by wolfsbane. I never knew we had those in our pack. So I tilted my head and gave a confused look to the guy.
"The coldness will delay healing too. Go in-"
"Let her die under snow." alpha Ren's voice bothered our one-sided conversation. "And aren't you responsible for inner patrolling?" he asked, making his way out of the woods.
"Yes, alpha." the guy replied.
"Then go. I patrolled a few yards, and some guys are appointed to it already."
I rolled my eyes at Ren's rude behaviour. And then the guy left, leaving alpha Ren and me alone.
'Please don't try anything funny.' I mentally said.
'Please go away, you mateless hooligan.' Sparkle joined.
"You don't seem to like rules," he said before taking a seat next to me. "There are many things you are responsible for," he added after a good minute of silence.
It perked my attention.
"How many times have you hit me again?" he asked. It made me remember the times I slapped him and punched him in the face. And I was sure he didn't get hurt by any of those. He was a strong person, plus I didn't have the strength to do any significant harm.
I slowly looked at his face. He wasn't looking at me, but his eyes were looking at the grass below our feet, which was covered with snow. Under the dim light of the moon, alpha Ren's complexion glistened. It resulted in him looking like someone rather handsome. But I didn't want to compliment him straightaway.
His usually neat hair didn't look neat either. And finally, what my eyes caught was the redness of one of his hands. It looked as if he punched some hard surface with it.
"I will get grounded. Or my position will be taken away. What do you think will be?" he asked. And I thought for a second. I didn't know what he did. He looked tired and down, though. Maybe he has done something terrible, as usual.
Talking about it, when I did something wrong, I got more and more work as a punishment... or sometimes the constant bullying and slap just like what happened in the basement a while ago.
And alpha Ren was the next in line to be alpha, aka our future alpha. So I assumed maybe he would get extra training time, no partying during the weekend for some time or something like that. What a lucky person to get those minor punishments.
"Something happened to your hands. One of my hands is bruised because of that, too." he slowly mumbled the last words. I didn't understand what he was trying to say. "I am not good at approaching people. Don't you think so, too?" he asked.
I finally nodded because it was a YES or NO question.
"But I don't regret some approaches," he said.
"Alpha!" the same guy from before called him. "Luna is looking for you," he said.
Ren quickly rose to his legs, and he looked more unhappy. I, too, stood up to leave so I won't have any more coincidental meetings with anyone again.
"I will be having a party tomorrow with some friends. I am not sure if I will get allowed to do so. But if I get the chance, you can be the waiter tomorrow, right?" he sternly asked.
Numbly, I nodded.
I had no freaking idea if I would be able to do the waiter job the next day with my hands wounded like that.
'What a prick.' came the comment.
