Chapter 22 Hidden Secrets Of The Pack

|Every|
'There's a party tonight.' I wrote on a piece of paper. 'And the son of a bich wants me to be a waiter.' I added.
"What the hell?? With hands like this? Didn't he see, and when did he tell you?" Fah bombarded me with questions.
'Last night. I went out when I couldn't sleep. I met him, and he said. He even saw my hands.' I wrote.
"You should stop going out like this girl. No wonder your nose is red, and I bet you didn't wear anything thick last night. Plus, I will come with you. Party nights are bad for omegas. It would help if you stayed away from him, too." she said, tearing her eyes from our little eye contact.
'Why bad?' I wrote.
Fah pursed her lips, thinking for a second.
"You don't know anything, do you? Well, Luna hides most of the things, so no wonder you don't know," she said.
I gave her a questioning look waiting for her to spill it out. Sometimes she could be the most puzzling person one could ever meet. And it was really hard to get information out of her mouth.
"Well, you can get bullied, humiliated, and to the extreme," she mumbled. I saw how she prevented herself from saying any more words that might trigger me. Well, at times like that, I didn't particularly appreciate how she hid most of the things she knew.
'Isn't it the same we have to experience every day?' I quickly jutted on the paper.
"Different cause you have no proof of that or anyone to help you," she said. Something about the way she told me showed that she knew a lot more than she revealed. Her eyes held something deep, which I assumed was a dark memory.
"Our pack looks kind of normal for everyone, even to you, to almost everyone. But there are dark secrets that no one knows." she started. "There are many members who have died without any trace, who have died in woods, suddenly disappeared from the pack... and even last night..." she trailed off.
I gasped. Fair enough, I didn't know anything, especially what she said at the end about the night before.
"They found two bodies in the woods last night. Two betas from our pack, I don't personally know them, and I don't think you do either. However, today I heard they've closed the case in the meeting room, saying it was a rogue attack. And it happened when our pack members were patrolling! Clearly, no one caught unfamiliar pheromones there... So things always go unsolved like that..." she sighed.
"I am not saying anything bad will happen to you. I just want you to know that people in our pack are bad. Very bad. And not the bullying and things but there are more to this. And now, the point is you have to be careful. Keep calm. Nothing bad will happen. I told this story just to let you know what kind of people are around us. Whatever happens to us, no one will take responsibility. So you should have your own back and safety even if I am not there. Especially, never to keep a blind eye." she said.
I nodded, trying to digest the new information. I indeed knew my pack wasn't the best out there, and it was the worst. But I never thought it could be that worst. And the most surprising fact was how no one knew the truth about last night's incident.
Those new facts suddenly make me feel scared about the night's party.

In the evening we got informed that alpha has decided to have the party in a separate hall on the third floor of the main building. It was a very secure place, and we were supposed to go there to arrange the setups as a start.
I got appointed to arrange the drinks needed in the bar. There was a small permanent bar at the end of the hall because it was a partying hall. I had to stack the expensive drinks on small trollies and take them to the bar. Well, I thought it was an easy task until I got a warning that no harm should happen to the glass materials.

So I was all sweating in fear by the time everything got stacked upstairs. I was afraid one would break by accident, but I was lucky enough to have them safe and sound in the bar. I never thought I could be that lucky.
A beta girl has got the bartender duty for the night, and I assumed her name was Alice. By the time I was done with my job. I watched as she unpacked some boxes.
"Help me with the glasses, too," she said with a small smile.
I nodded and helped her to get glasses out of some boxes. There were numerous types of glasses, and all were wrapped in bubble wrappers, so we had to remove them too.
"Aren't you the one who hit alpha Ren?" she suddenly asked.
I looked at her with wide eyes as my mouth opened and closed like a fish. I didn't know that words would travel that fast.
"Chillax. I just asked that. Nothing to worry about," she said with a chuckle. I felt relieved. "Well, most of the time, he can be a hard person. But born and bred in this pack, I won't take your side either. I was taught to dislike your kind." she said.
I stopped unpacking the boxes as I unconsciously stared at her. The way she said 'your kind' didn't sound good to me... And then I thought if I wasn't a werewolf anymore. I had a wolf, and I could shift back and fore without any problem. It was just a rank, and why were people making so much fuss about it?? I couldn't understand.
Suddenly I grew a dislike for her. Though she was much better than any other alphas or betas out there, I didn't like the way she verbally separated the omegas from others. I let that thought rest in the back of my mind and continued to help her with the glasses because there was nothing I could do, no matter what happened. In my pack, omegas were there to be servants and enslaved people who would do anything ordered by the higher rankers.
How much I disliked the way everything worked, but I didn't have any willpower or strength to make a change. As always, my only hope remained the same, and it was to wait for my mate to find me so he would take me out of the pack's mess.
But who would want me as their mate anyways? Or was I overthinking again?

I sat on the floor behind some chairs, exhausted as hell. Words couldn't describe how weak and sick I felt with all the work I had to do. But I couldn't go to the basement and hug my bed because the night was still new. And the party was only starting.
It was around 9 pm when people started flooding into the hall. So I stood up and went behind the counter to the bar where Alice was. She was already preparing drinks. Minute after minute, when guests started filling in the hall, music started playing.
I watched the hall, stunned. It was my first time seeing a party or a night out or whatever people called it. The music blasted as the giant disco ball which was hanging on the ceiling reflected colourful lights. The various colours of sidelights landed on the glass pieces of it, which created a vibe of giddiness inside me. Unconsciously, looking at them, I was kind of enjoying myself with the music too.
But my smile faded away when I saw a few familiar faces coming through the doorway. It was alpha Ren and Grey, and Ren had his arm draped around Grey. I thought they disliked each other, but they seemed to be pretty comfortable with each other's presence. Maybe they've made up after their 'friendly' match.
Both were wearing dark-coloured clothes. Alpha Grey had a black leather jacket which he wore as the outer layer. He was wearing a tight shirt inside. Meanwhile, Ren wore his usuals but with some chains around his next.
I was in my own world, looking at how chill they looked.
And it might be my imagination. The next thing I knew, both of their eyes were looking over at me...
No, maybe they were looking at Alice. She looked pretty in her dress.
